Top 10 Reasons I Got My Nose Pierced

I am pretty sure that everyone who reads this knows that I got my nose pierced. But if you didn't, I did. Here are my top 10 reasons for having it done:

10. It's cute.

9. Something new to accessorize! (Seriously, after I got it done I went home and tried on all of my clothes to see how they looked with it!)

8. I now have a good reason to pick my nose in public. When people stare, I can just point at it, and they nod their heads knowingly.

7. So Auntie Kay can ask "why?"

6. The warm salt-water soaks! (I think only fellow nose-pierced people will understand.)

5. Re-affirmation that I was born with a cute nose.

4. The stupid questions that I can ask about it. For example: If you are swimming underwater and you blow air out your nose, will little air bubbles come out of your piercing? (Apparently the answer is no. I didn't find this out until after I had it pierced. I might not have done it if I had known that beforehand.)

3. Reminding your family members that even if they don't like it, they still have to love you. (Auntie Kay.)

2. My goading limits have been set. I cannot goad someone so much that they will punch me in the nose anymore, so I have to stop right before they reach that point. I know, I know, it's sad that it took a piercing to get me to try not to irritate people so much.

1. It's cute. I know, I already used that one, but come on, weren't the other ones pretty creative?

Surely I Must Have Something To Talk About!

Okay, so recently life has been pretty tame for me. No menacing spiders, no speeding tickets, no new super huge expenditures with which my husband can threaten to divorce me. (Kidding!) But surely I have to have something to say. So, here goes. Forgive me if where it ends up going is nowhere.

Last week I went to the DMB concert. It was awesome! I think it was one of the best DMB concerts that I have been to! Part of the awesomeness was getting to hang out with one of my best friends and my dad in the pavilion. No crappy lawn seats for us! My dad was a new addition to the DMB plan, but it was only because I forgot to invite him until the day of the concert. (Yes, this is my particular style, very last second.)

What else, what else? Well, I got to go to a conference for work with my little Ms. America. My dad was also there. We had a really good time! It was nice to get to spend some one-on-one time with America. Unfortunately most of that time that we spent talking we borrowed from our sleep time, so we were weary girls by the end of the conference.

Well, this is a pretty boring blog. Sorry about that. I am going to go now and see if I can get myself into some trouble... I mean, find an adventure. Then I will have some more interesting things to say!

Cover Boy

Tonight my friend had his photo shoot for his album cover. I was there, helping out, but I refused to be in any pictures. I recruited a couple of my friends to be in it instead. I know that I made the right choice.

All of my life, I have shied away from things that bring me close to the spotlight. I think that I would hate being famous more than anything. I always see these celebrity magazines, and their loss of privacy leaves an ache inside of me. Yes, I know that it is doubtful that I would become famous from a couple of pictures, but you never know.

And about my friend: I want him to succeed, but at the same time, I don't. He is one of the sweetest, most compassionate people I have ever met. I am afraid what the industry will do to him. But I will always be there, behind the scenes, to let him know that he has a friend. I only hope that I am not being selfish by kind of hoping that this isn't his path.

Dave Matthews Band, Part Two

C-los and I are going to see DMB Monday night. Can I tell you how excited I am? I love them! They are about the only band that I would go to see, and also risk sitting on the lawn to see them!

I am going to share one of my favorite ways to torture myself during this time of the year. I go to E-bay, (as if that isn't torturous enough), and look up Dave Matthews Band tickets. I find the best seats available, and then I imagine sitting in them. Also, the concert in my imaginings lasts about 3 days. Oh yeah, I also figure out that Dave is madly in love with me, and that he wrote all of the songs for me. Except for Don't Drink The Water, Jimmy Thing, and there are probably a couple of others that I am not thinking about right now.

Sick, or what?

I also want to take this moment to give credit where credit is due. If it weren't for Cedar Point Ross, I probably wouldn't be a DMB fan today. Thank you so much! DMB rocks!

Defensive Driving

Okay, so I got 2 speeding tickets in a year. Now I have to take defensive driving. I have to watch a 4 hour video, and it is a big yawn fest. But here are some highlights from the video so far.

1. Hulk Hogan- Hulk Hogan you ask? What does he have to do with defensive driving? He said that if I don't learn how to drive defensively, he is going to kick my bootie. Fair enough. I will learn how to drive defensively.

2. Quizzes- The geniuses who came up with this program also came up with some very good questions. I would not be surprised to hear that these same questions are on the MCAT. For example: To alleviate fatigue while driving, you should:
a. roll down the window
b. take caffeine
c. take antihistamines

You know that I was dying to say "c."

3. Relevance- I know that it may surprise you to hear this, but these people don't seem to be to concerned about you actually learning how to drive defensively. This is illustrated by another quiz question that I had to answer. "What sport was featured in this lesson?" Sport??? I will be sure to mention that football was the featured sport in my defensive driving class the next time I get pulled over. Maybe the police officer will have mercy on me, considering I didn't really learn how to drive correctly.

I know it has been a long time.

Okay, so I did go to Boston, but I did not disappear off the side of the earth.

Quick re-cap of Boston: Tame.

Yep, that's it! I had a great visit with Trouble, but we just kind of stayed to ourselves for the most part. This may be disappointing to some, but not to my parents. You guys can exhale now.

So what else has been going on? Everything!

But the big news in my life right now is that my husband and I have moved into this century! Yes, I am typing this blog from home, on our very own internet connection! I love having the net back at home! Oh net net net, I have missed you so! And I am sure that certain office personnel are pleased to here that I will no longer be typing blogs at work. (Okay, so I will probably be typing fewer blogs at work.)

Reading

Books of Booky Past: these are books that I have recently (or not so recently) read, and recommend.

the plain truth: jodi picoult
This book provided a wealth of information about the Amish community. It was wonderful.

the time traveler's wife: audrey niffenegger (sp?)
This book is like the movie Serendipity. Wow! the first time around, still pretty great for consequent readings.

Present Booky Books: do I really need to explain what this is?

dragon haven: robin hobb
Yeah, it's fantasy. So is Edward Cullen.

Books of the Future: Oooooo!
